Patron Saint Scholastica

St. Scholastica was the twin sister of St. Benedict. She lived in Italy from 480 to 547. She was a nun and each year she would meet with her brother, St. Benedict to discuss spiritual matters. St. Gregory wrote that she and her brother were very close and were buried together.

St. Scholastica is the patron saint of many causes:

* Children with convulsions
* Nuns and sisters
* Against storms and rain
* Le Mans

Many Catholics who have St. Scholastica as a patron wear a St. Scholastica medal or a St. Scholastica charm, asking for her intercession and help in their lives. Many people also give a St. Scholastica pendant as a gift to a woman who is entering the convent offering them the inspiration of St. Scholastica.

O God, to show us where innocence leads, you made the soul of your virgin Saint Scholastica soar to heaven like a dove in flight. Grant through her merits and her prayers that we may so live in innocence as to attain to joys everlasting. This we ask through our Lord.

God of love,
to show us the beauty of holiness,
you caused the soul of St. Scholastica
to go up into heaven in the form of a dove.

Grant that by her example,
we may live in such peace and purity of heart as
to enjoy everlasting happiness with her.

Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your
Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of
the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.

we do well always and everywhere to give you
thanks through Jesus Christ our Lord.

So powerful in confident prayer,
more surpassing in fervent love,
St. Scholastica ran the way of your commandments
in the school of holy Benedict.

they sought you above all things.
