Patron St. Rita of Cascia
St. Rita lived a life full of hardship and pain. She
was abused for eighteen years by her husband and her
two sons lived unholy lives. St. Rita converted her
husband to Christianity but he was murdered soon after.
St. Rita's sons vowed revenge for their father's murderers.
Rather than see her sons kill someone, St. Rita prayed
for them to die. Both her sons were dead within a year.
St. Rita was miraculously whisked to a convent where
she prayed for pain in order to offer it up to the Lord.
She was pierced through the forehead with a thorn from
Jesus' crown of thorns. St. Rita remained in the convent
until she died in 1457.
St. Rita became the Patron Saint of:
* Lost causes
* Sickness
* Wounds
* Abuse
* Marital problems
* Mothers
Catholics who have difficult lives or marital struggles
often wear a St. Rita medal or a St. Rita pendant, praying
for St. Rita's intercession in their lives. A St. Rita
necklace reminds them to recite a prayer to St. Rita
to assist them with their special intentions.
