Patron Saint Perpetua

St. Perpetua lived in Carthage, North Africa and suffered martyrdom in 203 A.D. along with her freed slave and friend, Felicity. While awaiting execution, St. Perpetua gave birth while imprisoned. The guards jeered her saying that childbirth was nothing compared to the pain she would experience in the arena being mauled by wild beasts.
