Celebrate the Life of St. Joseph
the Worker
St. Joseph the worker provided Our Lord and the Blessed
Virgin with a love, loyalty, and a stable home. He set
an example for all Christian families with his selfless
strength and the ultimate trust he placed in God's will.
St. Joseph the worker did all that was asked of him
and protected the Holy Family with a loving spirit.
Pope Benedict XVI wrote how following the example of
St. Joseph the worker for a family filled with love,
devotion, and faith in Jesus Christ.
"Work activity must serve the true good of humanity
A
spirituality must be lived that will help believers
to sanctify themselves through their work, imitating
St. Joseph, who every day had to provide for the needs
of the Holy Family with his hands, and who because of
this the Church indicates as patron of workers. Together
with Mary, his spouse, may St. Joseph watch over all
workers and obtain serenity and peace for families and
for the whole of humanity. Contemplating this great
saint, may Christians learn to witness in all labor
realms the love of Christ, source of true solidarity
and stable peace. Amen!" -March 19, 2006.
Follow the Example of St. Joseph
the Worker
Follow the example of St. Joseph's loving spirit, working
hard and strengthening faith in Jesus Christ at work
and at home. Many Catholics recite the St. Joseph the
Worker novena and attend Adoration, asking for the intercession
of St. Joseph for a happy, holy home life. They wear
a St. Joseph the worker medal or a St. Joseph the worker
necklace while praying for his guidance in their hearts
and in their work throughout the day.
May 1 Is the Feast of St. Joseph
the Worker
The first day of May has been celebrated as a day for
the working man. Pope Pius XII named this day in honor
of St. Joseph the Worker, hoping that it would inspire
people to persevere in their labors each day. St. Joseph
is an example of the dignity that can be attained from
honest work and family devotion.
