Patron Saint Joan of
Arc
St. Joan of Arc, the national heroine of France was
a peasant girl who led the army of Charles VII to many
victories. She was on a mission from God to fight during
the Hundred Years War. St. Joan of Arc received guidance
from the voices of angels and saints. She was eventually
captured and at nineteen years old, St. Joan of Arc
was burned at the stake.
St. Joan of Arc is the patron saint of many causes:
* France
* Martyrs
* Captives
* Militants
* People ridiculed for piety
* Prisoners
* Soldiers
* Women in Voluntary Emergency Service
* Women Army Corps
St. Joan of Arc Prayers
Many Catholics, who have St. Joan of Arc as their patroness,
wear a St. Joan of Arc medal or a St. Joan of Arc necklace,
praying for her intercession. They ask for the strength
and courage that St. Joan of Arc displayed as just a
teenager in the French Army.
Prayer to St. Joan of Arc
* Most extraordinary soldier, you insistently proclaimed:
"Let God be served first!" You began by winning
many victories and received the plaudits of princes,
but then you were given to the enemy and cruelly put
to death. Instill in us the desire to serve God first
and perform our earthly tasks with that idea ever in
our minds. Amen.
* Glorious St. Joan of Arc, filled with compassion for
those who invoke you, with love for those who suffer,
heavily laden with the weight of my troubles, I kneel
at your feet and humbly beg you to take my present need
under your special protection... (mention here). Vouchsafe
to recommend it to the Blessed
Virgin Mary, and lay it before the throne of Jesus.
Cease not to intercede for me until my request is granted.
Above all, obtain for me the grace to one day meet God
face to face and with you and Mary and all the angels
and saints praise Him through all eternity. O most powerful
Saint Joan, do not let me lose my soul, but obtain for
me the grace of winning my way to heaven, forever and
ever. Amen.
