Prayer to St. Genevieve
Many believers recite the following prayer to St. Genevieve
asking for her intercession in giving them the faith
and fearlessness that she displayed when threatened
by Attila the Hun. Catholics wear a Saint Genevieve
medal or a Saint Genevieve charm for inspiration in
putting their trust in the Lord no matter what the dangers
they are facing.
Loving Saint Genevieve, fair patron saint of Paris,
lead us in your path of courage and valor. May we fearlessly
defend what is right and true, may we turn not away
from the fear and anguish of others but stand beside
them as you did, and by your holy example help us to
find eternal life among the warrior princes of the archangels,
and all who serve God and His truth without reservation.
Saint Genevieve, be our beacon and our light in darkness.
Amen.
Life of St. Genevieve
When Saint Genevieve was seven years old, St. Germain
consecrated her to be a virgin of God. She lived her
life in austerity, prayer, and fasting, doing works
of mercy for the poor and the sick.
Saint Genevieve encouraged the citizens of Paris to
pray and fast in order to protect them from Attila and
his Huns who were ravaging the countryside. She assured
the people of Paris that God would protect them if they
followed her advice. God did as she predicted and saved
the city from Attila
.Saint Genevieve died in 500 A.D. and the Feast of Saint
Genevieve is celebrated on January 3.
