Quotes by St. Edith
Stein
* As for what concerns our relations with our fellow
men, the anguish in our neighbor's soul must break all
precept. All that we do is a means to an end, but love
is an end in itself, because God is love.
* In order to be an image of God, the spirit must turn
to what is eternal, hold it in spirit, keep it in memory,
and by loving it, embrace it in the will.
* My longing for truth was a single prayer.
* The limitless loving devotion to God, and the gift
God makes of Himself to you, are the highest elevation
of which the heart is capable; it is the highest degree
of prayer. The souls that have reached this point are
truly the heart of the Church.
* Those who join the Carmelite Order are not lost to
their near and dear ones, but have been won for them,
because it is our vocation to intercede to God for everyone.
St. Edith Stein Martyr
St. Edith Stein was born to Jewish parents in Germany
in 1891. She converted to Christianity in 1922 and became
a Carmelite nun. St. Edith was captured by the Germans
in 1942 and sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp
where she perished in the gas chambers.
St. Edith never lost her faith in Jesus
Christ, remaining true to Him even as she died.
St. Edith Stein Patron Saint
St. Edith Stein is the patron saint of Europe, martyrs,
people who have lost their parents, and World Youth
Day. Her feast day is celebrated on August 9 and on
this day many Catholics wear a St. Edith Stein medal
in her memory.

by Catholics today. They read the inspirational quotes
of St. Edith Stein and wear a St. Edith Stein pendant,
hoping to live by her example and words of hope and
faith.
