The Plea of Saint Daniel
St. Daniel wrote the Old Testament, Book of Daniel.
In this book, Saint Daniel pleads with God to forgive
the Israelites for their sins.
15"Now, O Lord our God, who brought your people
out of Egypt with a mighty hand and who made for yourself
a name that endures to this day, we have sinned, we
have done wrong. 16O Lord, in keeping with all your
righteous acts, turn away your anger and your wrath
from Jerusalem, your city, your holy hill. Our sins
and the iniquities of our fathers have made Jerusalem
and your people an object of scorn to all those around
us." (9:15-16)
Saint Daniel continues his plea to God saying,
"O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear
and act! For your sake, O my God, do not delay, because
your city and your people bear your Name." (9:19)
St. Daniel's prayer was answered by God.
Miracle of St. Daniel
When St. Daniel was eighty years old, he was accused
of treason and thrown into a den of lions. St. Daniel
was miraculously saved from the vicious lions. This
image of St. Daniel is the most familiar with Christians.
Pray Like St. Daniel
St. Daniel never gave up pleading for his people. God
answered the prayers of St. Daniel because of his perseverance
