St. Albert Patron Saint
of Scientists
St. Albert the Great was a well-known scientist and
theologian of the 13th century. He belonged to the Dominican
Order and was a teacher to many great men. One of his
students was Saint
Thomas Aquinas.
St. Albert studied many areas of science and was often
considered a magician because of his scientific discoveries.
Because of St. Albert's scientific knowledge, he was
named the Patron Saint of Scientists. He was also a
statesman, an advisor to the pope, a learned theologian,
and traveler.
The Feast of St. Albert is celebrated on November 15.
Prayer to St. Albert
Dear Scientist and Doctor of the Church, natural science
always led you to the higher science of God. Though
you had an encyclopedia knowledge, it never made you
proud, for your regarded it as a gift of God. Inspire
scientists to use their gifts well in studying the wonders
of creation, thus bettering the lot of the human race,
and rendering greater glory to God. Amen.
Relevance of St. Albert the Great
Today
St. Albert the Great remains relevant even in today's
busy world. His quest for knowledge and inspirational
teachings has encouraged Christians to continue with
their higher education.
St. Albert the Great believed that all creation was
proof of God's existence and that the all scientific
knowledge revealed something about Him. Not only has
God given mankind the Bible but He has given the world
the book of creation just waiting to reveal God's wisdom
and power. St. Albert saw the hand of God in the scientific
knowledge of the world.
St. Albert is a great inspiration to all people who
seek to find enlightenment through knowledge. Pursuing
further education is a goal for most people, giving
them the hope for a good life and stronger faith in
Jesus
Christ. Wearing a St. Albert charm or St. Albert
medallion is a wonderful way to gain inspiration to
continue pursuing knowledge and through knowledge, discover
the power of God.
Add a St. Albert pendant to the school supplies of a
college bound student, giving them that added incentive
to learn as much as they can about God's great world.
In following the example of St. Albert the Great, they
will strengthen their faith.
