Rosary MaryThe rosary is Marys
prayer, the one she gave to us and the one we pray with her to God. Mary
has advocated the rosary prayer in several apparitions, sometimes appearing
with her own rosary in her hand. She did not give the rosary to St. Dominic
in a vision as was once thought but there is no doubt that Mary approves
of and blesses the use of this prayer. The children at Fatima, Bernadette
at Lourdes and the children of Medjugorje all prayed, and in the case of
Medjugorje still pray, the rosary as they wait for Mary to appear. Mary
asks us to pray the rosary not because it praises her but because it is a
meditation on the events of the life of Jesus. Mary wishes us to draw closer
to God by repeating the rosary. She tells us He waits for us eagerly, wanting
only that we devote ourselves to Him. Mary has been given the role of Intercessor
for us. We call on her using her prayer, the rosary, which puts our souls
in touch with God. |
