Catholic find prayer rosary sayMany
Catholics seek to find the correct prayers to say on a rosary. Either they
were never taught the rosary before or they find they can no longer say it
because of years of neglecting the rosary prayer. Catholics can find the
prayers to say on a rosary here, at this site, and at several other web sites
on the web. The difficulty is not to learn the prayers but to find the time
to say the rosary consistently. Many Catholics, like people all over, find
they only have time to say a quick prayer during the day, but if you can
set aside even five minutes a day for the rosary prayer, you will be able
to say a decade of the rosary, which would be a good start. The main
rosary prayers that Catholics say are the Our Father, the Hail Mary and the
Glory Be. These are said in groups of ten, or decades, with each decade having
its own meditation, called a Mystery. Since 2002, Catholics have had twenty
Mysteries, grouped in fives, to say on a rosary. Many find the newest Mysteries,
the Mysteries of Light, instated by Pope John Paul II to be most inspiring,
since they are meditations on Jesus ministry. The other Mysteries are
the Joyful Mysteries, the Sorrowful Mysteries and the Glorious Mysteries.
To say the rosary prayer you choose which group of Mysteries you want to
meditate on and then begin the traditional Catholic prayers on the rosary.
The first prayer is the Creed which you say while holding the crucifix. Next
you pray an Our Father while fingering the single bead after the crucifix.
Then you say three Hail Marys on the following three beads and conclude
this part with a Glory Be for which there is no bead. Then you start to say
the main body of the Catholic rosary. Begin on the next single bead with
an Our Father. Follow it with ten Hail Marys on the next ten beads.
Finish this decade with a Glory Be for which there is no bead. All the while
you say these prayers you are meditating on the first of the Mysteries
that you decided to pray. You continue in this manner until you have said
all five decades of the rosary. Then, it is traditional to finish the rosary
with a Hail Holy Queen. It is not unusual for Catholics to find the rosary
boring at first, and to have their minds wandering throughout the prayer,
but those who continue to pray it faithfully will gradually find their concentration
lengthening and all worldly thoughts being left behind as they say the rosary.
It is worth the consistent effort, even if you can only find time to say
one decade a day. You are joining many other Catholics in rediscovering
the rosary prayer. |
