Peace queen rosaryIt is believed
by many that Mary has appeared to six young people in a town called Medjugorje
of the former Yugoslavvia. These apparitions began in our lifetime, in 1981
and continue until today. The parish of the visionaries refers to Mary as
Our Lady, Queen of Peace who warns us that peace will only come to the world
if we convert, pray and fast. The visionaries tell us that the Queen of peace
enjoins us to pray and that one of the prayers she encourages is the rosary,
although she espouses first of all the Holy Mass. Queen of Peace is an appropriate
name for Mary here because she entreats us always to pray for peace, and reminds
us that peace will only come through prayer and conversion to God. ³Gospa²,
as the visionaries call the Queen of Peace, has taught them a new rosary which
consists of seven mysteries about the life of Jesus, but she encourages us
to pray any rosary, any prayer, and to receive the Holy Eucharist. Mary comes
to us as the Queen of Peace at a time when peace seems a hopeless cause, but
she promises us we can avert catastrophe with fasting, the rosaries and other
prayers, attendance at Mass and a true conversion of ourselves to God. We
pray the rosaries with Mary, the Queen of Peace, knowing that as a mother
wants only the best for her children, she wants this peace for us. Mary asks
us to pray the rosaries with lively faith-³only this way can I help you.²
In another apparition, the Queen of Peace says ³At all times, fill your
heart with even the smallest prayers.² Each of us can take up his or
her rosary, or just fold hands and try to live this message of peace, because
it is in the interest of all nations and all peoples, whether or not you believe
the young people in Medjugorje have truly seen the Queen of Peace. |
