Mysteries of the RosaryThe
full rosary now consists of four sets of mysteries, the Joyful Mysteries,
the Sorrowful Mysteries, the Glorious Mysteries and the Luminous Mysteries,
which were added to the rosary by Pope John Paul II in 2002. Each set contains
five mysteries, one for each decade of the rosary. The Joyful Mysteries of
the rosary are the Annunciation, the Visitation, the Nativity, the Presentation,
and the Finding of Jesus in the Temple. The Sorrowful Mysteries of the rosary
are the Agony in the Garden, the Scourging at the Pillar, the Crowning with
Thorns, the Carrying of the Cross and the Crucifixion. The Glorious
Mysteries of the rosary consist of the Resurrection, the Ascension, the Coming
of the Holy Spirit, the Assumption and the Crowning of Mary, Queen of Heaven.
The Luminous Mysteries are the Baptism of Jesus, the Wedding at Cana, the
Proclamation of the Kingdom of God, the Transfiguration and the Institution
of the Eucharist. |
