Beaded blessed rosaries
Catholics, quite naturally, want the beaded rosaries they buy to be blessed. A
person feels more in touch with God when he or she is holding a blessed object.
And so we like our beaded rosaries, whose use requires much handling as we pray,
to be blessed. Blessed rosaries can be bought at some Catholic stores, but most
beaded rosaries, including the ones at this site, are not pre-blessed. The blessing
of rosaries, crosses and other Catholic objects should be a personal, witnessed
experience, something you do for another or have done for you. Some churches have
special days on which things can be brought to the sanctuary to be blessed, or
you might have admiration for a certain priest and could ask for his blessing
on your beaded rosary. The blessed rosary becomes that much more meaningful when
you have been a part of the blessing. The presence of beaded rosaries in Catholic
history goes back over 800 years. In fact, the word bead may have come from the
Dutch word for prayer, "bede". In any case, " the words 'bead'
and 'prayer' are connected by association because each bead means a prayer."
* There are of course many different types of beaded rosaries. The beads can be
made of anything from wood to crystal to gold. We have all these types and more
at this site, and encourage you to browse through our selection, if only to get
an idea of the many options out there for beaded rosaries.
