Golgotha Cross

 What is Golgotha?

Golgotha is the site of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion.  It is also known as the “place of the skulls” which comes from the Aramaic word, ‘skull’.  This grim site, familiarly known as Cavalry, is where Jesus carried the cross of Golgotha.
According to Bible scripture, Golgotha is outside the city of Jerusalem.

Matthew 27:  33

33 And when they came to a place called Golgotha, which means Place of a Skull, 34 they gave Him wine to drink mixed with gall; and after tasting it, He was unwilling to drink. 35 And when they had crucified Him, they divided up His garments among themselves by casting lots.

John 19:  17-18

 Golgotha Cross

17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:  18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

Luke 23: 33-34

33 When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left. 34 But Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves.

Remembering Jesus and the Golgotha Cross
Christians around the world remember Jesus, Golgotha and the crucifixion every year on Good Friday and every Sunday at the celebration of the Mass.  They offer prayers and adoration to Jesus and His death on the infamous Golgotha cross.  It doesn’t have to be Good Friday or Sunday morning to show love for Jesus.  Wearing the cross of Golgotha each and every day is a sign of your love for Jesus Christ and the appreciation of His agony for all mankind.  Crosses of Golgotha are designed with the skull at the base of the cross, the heavens above the cross, and at the right and left of the cross, IC XC is engraved, meaning Conquerer’s Cross.
