|About Saint Monica
Saint Monica was born in 322 A.D. in Tagaste which is known as Algeria today. She was brought up in a Christian household but her parents gave her in marriage to a pagan named Patricius.
Saint Monica gave birth to two children, one of whom was Saint Augustine of Hippo. In fact, the writings her son, St. Augustine is where most of the information about Saint Monica can be found.
Saint Monica prayed constantly for her husband’s conversion. He finally converted while dying in bed. She also prayed for her other son’s conversion and he became a Christian after living a life of debauchery and alcoholism.
