About Saint Valentine of Rome
Saint Valentine was a priest and a doctor from Rome who lived during the third century. He ministered to the Christian martyrs who were imprisoned and was them put in prison himself. While Saint Valentine was in prison, he miraculously cured the blind daughter of the jailer and converted him.
Saint Valentine was martyred in Rome by beheading in 269 A.D.
Saint Valentine’s Day
Everyone knows that Saint Valentine’s Day is celebrated on February 14. It is a day of love poems, chocolates, and Saint Valentine’s Day cards that are exchanged between loved ones.
It is unknown why Saint Valentine is associated with love and happy couples. One legend says that Saint Valentine wrote a note to the jailer’s daughter whom he cured. In the note, he signed it, “From your Valentine”.
