St. Anthony continues to contemplate the gospel of Matthew, 6:34, “So do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” After contemplation and prayer, St. Anthony of Egypt left his sister at a convent and traveled to the desert where he lived a life of fasting, prayer, and contemplation for the rest of his days. He died at the age of 105.
Saint Anthony of Egypt Inspiration
St. Anthony of Egypt accepted all the sacrifices and torments he suffered in the desert with true faith in Jesus Christ. He lived the words of Jesus in a way that most Christians never will. Christians today pray to Saint Anthony of Egypt to strengthen their own faith in Jesus and help them to live with the faith to accept the sacrifices and challenges that come their way.
Wearing a St. Anthony of Egypt necklace or a St. Anthony of Egypt pendant during the day is a reminder to keep the faith even on the most challenging days. Reciting a St. Anthony of Egypt prayer also inspires Christians live their lives the way Jesus Christ would and gladly go through life with fervor and faith.

Collect of the Day: Antony, Abbot in Egypt, d. 356
O God, who by your Holy Spirit enabled your servant Antony to withstand the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil: Give us grace, with pure hearts and minds, to follow you, the only God; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
