| St. Aaron – Humble of Heart
St. Aaron lived during the 6th century. Not too much is known about him, except that he was born in the British Isles and chose to live a secluded life on a deserted island in France. He lived a life of exile and devoted his entire life to the service of God. His humble, devout existence was noticed by many Christians in the area and they made pilgrimages to St. Aaron’s island to pray with him and asked him how they too could become closer to God.
Saint Milo Visits St. Aaron
Saint Milo heard about the faith and teachings of St. Aaron and traveled to the island of Cezembre in 544, seeking the instruction of St. Aaron. Saint Milo was greeted by St. Aaron and the two men conversed for hours regarding faith and living a Christian life. Saint Milo traveled to the island many times and brought back the teachings of St. Aaron to many people.
After Christian people saw what Saint Aaron was teaching St. Milo, they traveled to the island themselves to learn firsthand what St. Aaron had to say. A monastery was built on the island and St. Aaron was named head of the monastery and the spiritual guide for all the monks and visitors.
