O/L of LaSALETTE
The First Words of Our Lady of La Salette
|Our Blessed Mother appeared to two children who were herding sheep in the Alps of France. Their names were Maximin Giraud and Melanie Mathieu. The Our Lady of La Salette apparition took place on September 18, 1846.
The first thing Our Lady said to the children was “Come near my children, do not be afraid. I am here to tell you great news.” Our Lady of La Salette wept as she spoke of the disrespect people have for her Son. They take his name in vain and don’t observe the holy day of Sunday. She told the children to tell the world to repent, giving her Son the love and respect he deserves. Our Lady’s final words to the children were “Well, my children, you will make this known to all my people.”
Pass on the Words of Mary
Maximin and Melanie did as Our Lady of La Salette asked and passed her words on to the people. Followers of Jesus and Mary continue to pass on her words of reconciliation to the world today. Catholics pray to the Blessed Virgin with devotion and strive for a live in Jesus Christ.
Our Lady of La Salette Shrines have been built around the world, offering believers a place to worship Jesus and His Blessed Mother. Catholics continue to make her message known to all people.
