Today’s Families and the Holy Family
|The Feast of the Holy Family
The Catholic Feast of the Holy Family is celebrated on the first Sunday after Christmas. This day is also referred to as Holy Family Sunday. As all Christians know, the Holy Family consists of Jesus, the Son of God, Jesus’ mother Mary, and Joseph, Jesus’ adoptive father. The Feast of the Holy Family is celebrated with Mass, devotion to the Holy Family with prayer, and reciting the Holy Family Novena which begins nine days before the Feast day.
Today’s Catholic families celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family with prayers and novenas as a way to keep their families close in the love of Jesus and one another. The Holy Family is what every Christian family tries to imitate. Following the example of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, families hope to live lives following the teachings of Jesus and keeping that love alive in their own homes.
