The Holy Infant Jesus
Is Born
The day the Infant Jesus was born changed the course
of history. He brought with Him a message of joy and
peace for all mankind. The traditional beliefs of the
time were questioned as Jesus grew began teaching the
people. The creation of the Christian religious beliefs
came to be after the Holy Infant Jesus grew into manhood
and died for His people.
Christians all over the world venerate the Holy Infant
Jesus today with prayers and novenas. Christians wear
Infant Jesus jewelry as a way to honor Jesus and pray
to Him throughout the day. Oftentimes, Christians will
give an Infant Jesus medal as Baptism
and First
Communion gifts. Children can relate to the Holy
Infant Jesus and can be taught to participate in the
Infant Jesus Novena at an early age.
Parents will often wear an Infant Jesus pendant and
pray to the Infant Jesus to keep their children safe
from harm as they go about their day. They ask the Holy
Infant Jesus to give their children health, strength,
and to watch over them when they are awake or asleep.
Parents ask that the Infant Jesus gives their children
wisdom as they grow and faith to live the way of Jesus.
Infant Jesus Novena
Prayers for an Infant Jesus Novena from the 16th to
the 24th Day of Any Month
I. Eternal Father, I offer to Thy honor and glory, for
my eternal salvation and for the salvation of the whole
world, the mystery of the birth of our Divine Redeemer.
Glory be to the Father . . .
II. Eternal Father, I offer to Thy honor and glory,
for my eternal salvation and for the salvation of the
whole world, the sufferings of the most holy Virgin
and Saint Joseph on that long and weary journey from
Nazareth to Bethlehem, and the anguish of their hearts
at not finding a place of shelter
when the Savior of the world was about to be born.
Glory be to the Father . . .
III. Eternal Father, I offer to Thy honor and glory,
for my eternal salvation and for the salvation of the
whole world, the suffering of Jesus in the manger where
He was born, the cold He suffered, the tears He shed
and His tender infant cries.
Glory be to the Father . . .
IV. Eternal Father, I offer to Thy honor and glory,
for my eternal salvation and for the salvation of the
whole world, the pain which the Divine Child Jesus felt
in His tender body, when He submitted to the rite of
circumcision: I offer Thee that Precious Blood which
He then first shed for the salvation of all mankind.
Glory be to the Father . . .
V. Eternal Father, I offer to Thy honor and glory, for
my eternal salvation and for the salvation of the whole
world, the humility, mortification, patience, charity
and all the virtues of the Child Jesus; I thank Thee,
I love Thee, and I bless Thee infinitely for this ineffable
mystery of the Incarnation of the Word of God.
Glory be to the Father . . .
V. The Word was made flesh.
R. And dwelt among us.
Let us pray.
O God, Thine only-begotten Son has appeared in the substance
of our flesh. Grant that through Him Whom we acknowledge
to have been outwardly like us, we may deserve to be
renewed in our inward selves. He lives and reigns with
Thee for ever and ever. Amen.
