The focus of the United Methodist
Church
The United Methodist cross and flames is well known
in all Christian communities. It is the universal sign
in front of all United Methodist churches and it reaches
out to all United Methodists around the world. Today's
United
Methodist Church is focusing on four important areas
to develop Christian awareness and growth in the church.
Four Areas of Focus:
* Educating young people to be the Christian leaders
of the future. The United Methodist Church is gearing
programs toward the youth of the church, teaching them
the methods needed to be leaders of their faith in these
modern times.
* Trying to find new Disciples of Christ to build congregations
in new locations and also to make existing congregations
stronger, spreading the teaching of Jesus.
* Helping the poor by following the work of John Wesley,
altering poor conditions and raising the quality of
life for the downtrodden.
* Improving the health of all people in God's world.
The United Methodists hope to educate all people about
diseases and how they spread, and attempt to offer aid
in controlling diseases.
By following the way of Jesus and working with the strength
of the Holy
Spirit, the goals of the United Methodist cross
and flames will become reality. United in faith, the
United Methodist Church strives to make a better world,
bringing hope, faith, and the blessing of the Holy Spirit
to all the world. As Jesus
said in Matthew28:19 Go ye therefore, and make disciples
of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of
the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Inspirational United Methodist Cross and Flame Symbol
There are many inspirational religious symbols, icons,
and statues, but the United Methodist cross is one of
the most inspiring. It brings together the cross of
Jesus which brings to mind the great suffering Jesus
endured for mankind, and the cloven tongues of the Holy
Spirit, bringing strength to Disciples of Christ.
