Jesus Mary and Joseph cross - Imagery
The image of Jesus, Mary and Joseph is also known in
common phrasing as The Holy
Family. The image has passed from the ages to the
present day as a universally accepted idea, but the
placement and style of the three individuals is rarely
consistent. The imagery appearance can vary depending
upon size of surface, from pendant to Jesus Mary and
Joseph cross. The only constant is that Jesus be a prominent
image, especially on the Jesus Mary and Joseph cross.
Clarification of the Jesus Mary Joseph
cross
The Christian scriptures mention Jesus' earthly father,
St.
Joseph, many times up to and including the finding
of Jesus in the temple teaching at the age of about
twelve. This is the last mention of St. Joseph's presence
in the New Testament, up to and including Jesus' crucifixion
around age thirty three. The addition of Mary and Joseph
together on the Roman Catholic crucifix is not meant
to imply a teaching that St. Joseph was actually present
at the crucifixion. Likewise, the image of a dove symbolizing
the Holy
Spirit on a Jesus Mary Joseph cross is not to be
taken as literal that the Holy Spirit was a visible
presence at the crucifixion. The Roman Catholic crucifix
jewelry in all the various imagery can be worn with
pride and devotion to the Holy Family.
Popular Image of the Mary Joseph
and Jesus Cross
There is one particularly stunning Catholic crucifix
that has two images set to each side of the crucified
Jesus. The left side is an affixed medal of St.
Mary in the well known image showing her open arms
and the right side is an affixed medal of St. Joseph.
This can be worn on a bracelet and also has a loop at
the top for attaching to a favorite chain.
