Spreading the Word of Jesus with
the Cross of Jerusalem
The meaning of the Jerusalem Cross varies. One interpretation
of the cross is that it is the symbol of spreading the
Gospels of Mark,
Matthew,
Luke,
and John
to the four corners of the world. All Christians are
called to spread the Good News of Jesus
to all the earth. The Jerusalem Cross is a reminder
to all followers of Christ, to follow this mission and
take up the Jerusalem Cross just as the first Crusaders
did centuries ago.
Follow the Path of the Jerusalem Cross
In the Bible passage of Acts 6:4, the mission of all
Christians is stated: "But we will give ourselves
continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word."
These words of ministry and apostolic works are a message
to all followers of Jesus. In this materialistic world,
it is often difficult to keep Jesus' message in mind.
A few ways to be reminded of the Christian mission to
spread the words of Jesus are:
* Read the Gospels daily
* Wear a Jerusalem Cross
* Carry rosary beads
* Attend morning Mass
* Pray to the Virgin
Mary for strength and guidance
* Attend Christian retreats
* Volunteer a week at a foreign mission
* Volunteer at local shelters
* Give Jerusalem Cross jewelry to others as a symbol
of Jesus' word.
* Teach the children at Bible School
These are just a few of the many ways to spread the
Christian word of Jesus.
Wearing Jerusalem Cross pendants gives Christians more
motivation, determination, inspiration, and the loving
memory of Jesus to help them. As Jesus himself said
in Matthew 24:14 14"This gospel of the kingdom
shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony
to all the nations, and then the end will come."
