The Heart as a Symbol
From the earliest times of mankind, the heart has been
seen as the essence of the human spirit. Some cultures
believe the heart is where the intellect resides, others
belief it is the soul of man, and the most universal
belief is that the heart is a symbol of love.
Christian Belief of the Heart and
Cross
The Sacred Heart of Jesus - The
Sacred Heart of Jesus depicts Jesus' heart radiating
the divine light of love to the world. It is a symbol
of Christ's love for all people and His sacrificing
His heart for all mankind on the cross.
The Immaculate Heart of Mary - The
Sacred Heart of Mary represents the life of Mary
as the Mother of Jesus. Her heart is the center of her
joy, her many sorrows, her perfection, and her life
as the immaculate mother of Jesus, and her love for
God the Father. Like Jesus', Mary's heart is also a
symbol of her devotion and love for all of humanity.
A Cross with a Heart - A cross with a
heart can symbolize many things. It is more of a personal
heart cross symbol for each individual Christian. The
heart cross is usually a combination of a heart and
a cross inside a heart, or a heart with the cross resting
on it. The heart cross symbol has various meanings.
It can represent the love of a person for another person,
the love of Jesus for a person, or the love a person
has for Jesus.
Heart Crosses as Outward Signs of Love
Heart crosses are outward signs of love and are often
given as gifts to babies at Baptism,
husbands and wives, wedding gifts, anniversary gifts,
First
Communion gifts for little girls, or gifts for caregivers.
The heart & cross can be worn as a heart cross necklace,
or a gold cross with heart pendant.
There's no better way to express the love in your heart
for Jesus and that person who is so special to you than
with a gift of a heart cross.
