- The Easter Story and the Risen
Christ
The story of Easter is the most read and recited story
known to man. It is a story of pain, suffering, sacrifice,
death, and resurrection. It is the story of Jesus,
risen from the dead as he promised all people.
Highlights of the Easter Story:
* Christ's body is placed in the tomb of Joseph of
Arimathes
* A large stone is rolled into the entrance of the
tomb and sealed.
* Three days after the crucifixion, Mary,
the mother of James, Mary Magdalene, Salome and Joanna
go to Jesus' tomb to anoint His body.
* The women find the large stone rolled away from
the entrance.
* An angel is in the tomb and announces to the women
that Jesus is gone. The angel says, "He is risen,
just as he said."
* The women run to inform the Apostles of what the
angel said and Jesus appears to them.
* The women fall to His feet and praise the risen
Christ. He says, "Do not be afraid. Go tell my
brothers to go to Galilee. There they will see me."
* Jesus appears to his disciples at least two more
times while they are gathered together.
* Jesus tells his disciples to go make disciples of
all nations.
* Jesus ascends into heaven on Easter morning. He
is risen.
Images of the Resurrection
Since the Resurrection of Jesus, the image of the
risen Christ has been painted, sculpted, made into
statues, icons, and jewelry pieces. One of the most
beautiful images of Jesus risen is the Christ
Risen cross pendant. The sterling silver pendant
displays Jesus in flowing robes, lifting his arms
to His Father in Heaven. It is a glorious piece of
jewelry and a reminder of the risen Christ. Alleluia.
